The Armada Hotel, at Spanish Point, County Clare, is perfectly located for those who love the sea. Every one of its superior bedrooms, as well as the Signature and Tranquillity Suites, looks out at the Atlantic Ocean. The hotel’s very attractive Atlantic Suite is very popular for conferences, birthday or anniversary parties and wedding receptions. There is no better way to chill out than by sipping a coffee or pint while watching the waves roll in. In the Ocean Bar, you can do just that. With the Pearl Restaurant serving great food and the staff providing a smile whatever the hour of the day, one is sure to return.
Right in the centre of Lahinch, a very pretty village on the coast of County Clare, is the family run Atlantic Hotel. From here, guests can walk out the door and straight onto the mile long Blue Flag beach. Alternatively, if they walk just five minutes down the road they will find themselves at the Links Championship Golf Course. This is a traditional seaside hotel, with hearty, delicious food, fully licensed bar and car park. It is the perfect place to stay while exploring all that Clare has to offer, such as the Burren, Cliffs of Moher and Aillwee Caves.

The Abbott Oceanarium has an amazing range of animals on show, all living in amazingly realistic recreations of their natural habitats. In the Pacific Northwest habitat, for example, you can see dolphins, whales, sea lions, sea otters, and much, much more. Other fascinating zones include pleasant green woods and beaches, with everything else in between, housing Pacific white-sided dolphins and rare beluga whales. Meanwhile, the penguins have a section all to themselves. Children will love the Polar Play Zone as it is here that they can stroke some of the animals, or dress up as their favourite creatures.
There are many must-sees at the Field Museum, but one of the priorities must be Sue – the most intact and biggest Tyrannosaurus Rex specimen known on earth. At the ‘Inside Ancient Egypt’ exhibit, one can experience an ancient tomb as the Ancient Egyptians would have intended it to look, and see for yourself a mummy on display along with the sacred Book of the Dead. There is also a breathtaking collection of 600 precious gemstones and 150 items of jewellery. In the interactive ‘Evolving Planet’ exhibition, you can learn about how life on planet Earth has developed and evolved since it began an estimated 4,000 million years ago.
